Create a Sale in Zen-Cart

Make a Sale

One of those niffty little things that Zen-Cart offers is that you can set a whole category on sale. I did this in BudgetHandles.com.au for April and put all my door stops on sale and this had a pleasing result. In addition to this I put a note on my Welcome page and ran a Google Adwords ad to let people know about this. Also I made Zen-Cart by default display the Door Stop Category whenever visitors went to my shopping cart main page. I recommend however to set this to the category that is most popular when you’re not running a sale. I don’t like to display a welcome or similar in Zen-Cart since this is all done in my WordPress site. To make Zen-Cart display a category rather then the default behaviour of displaying the welcome page do this:

Zen-Cart admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Main Page – Opens with Category and insert the category id you want to use.

If you don’t know the ID go to your shopping cart and hover over the category name and in the statusbar of your the bottom of your browser you will see a link that includes cPath=#, where # is the ID of thye category.
